When I read John 10:10, I have hope and expectation that I have, am and will continue to receive all that God intended to give His children. Jeremiah 29:11, says that God knows the plans that He has for us, plans to prosper and not to harm us; plans to give us a future and a hope.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

As I’ve studied the Word of God and reflected on His many promises throughout the Bible, I’ve come to understand that God is faithful to keep all of His promises. Our Lord Jesus came so that we may have life and have it abundantly. His coming proved that we were not living in accordance to God’s plan for us; we were not prospering.

Why would Jesus come to give us life, and an abundant life at that, if we already had it?

After the Fall mankind did surely die; we were separated from God. For God’s promises to freely flow in our lives we have to be in proper alignment with Him, and to be in alignment means that we have to be close to Him. But God, being the faithful Father that He is, already knew the plan He had for us, the plan to redeem us, to reconcile us to Him, so that He could prosper His children as He always intended. So because of the mighty works of our Lord Jesus, the promises of God are now available to us. But in order to release those promises and blessings in our lives, we have to be in proper alignment with God; connected to the Source so that His blessings and favor can flow to us. Because of the work of Jesus, blessing and favor can now flow freely to us, like water in a pipe unobstructed by the sludge and pinches of sin and death.  An abundant life is a life connected to God; a life filled with more than we could ever ask, think or imagine.
