No matter how you came to acquire your go-to piece, you want it to remain vibrant and beautiful. So what do you do when you notice your go-to brass piece is looking dull, dark and a little disgusting.
Every piece of brass jewelry is different. And all solutions and methods of cleaning may not work on your particutlar lackluster piece. After doing a little research, I've compiled some #jewelrycleaning methods and #tarnishprevention tips that you could try to clean and revive your #brassjewelry.
Note: The following methods are intended for brass metals only. Use caution when applying any solutions and acids to pieces containing rare jewels, gems, beads, stones or plastics.
Method 1 - This method from Purpose, is an easy method for cleaning brass jewelry. Start with warm water and a small amount of liquid dish soap. Use your fingers or a soft toothbrush and gently scrub the surface of your item with the soapy water. When you have finished scrubbing off the grime, rinse the item thoroughly with water until all soap and bubbles are gone. Next, pat and lay the jewelry flat to dry completely.
Method 2 - Try applying Toothpaste or a baking soda and vinegar paste brushed onto your jewelry piece with a soft bristle toothbrush and let sit for about ten minutes. This method may help to get nooks and crannyies cleaner. Wash off the paste residue with water and rub the pieces completely dry.
Method 3 - Try a teaspoon of salt mixed with a half cup of vinegar. This may be a good quick soak to help remove tarnish.
Method 4 - Try Squeezing half a lemon and pour the lemon juice into a cup of water. Then stir in a teaspoon of salt until completely dissolved. Place your brass piece in the solution until it all or most of the griminess is lifted. Wash off the item and dry completely.
